I found about rpm challenge the other night. . So i have finished a track. It's a generative sample created by software run under my command, on my friends hardware, than mastered by the guy, came back, sat on my hdd, and because of the challenge i have scrappily finished it.

I steve reiched a 'tune' i made with the celeste sample from my edirol orchestral plug-in and i think it makes good atmospheric music for a variety of things, depending on where you are in the track. It only really gets going from about 1:35 but after that i think it makes good fairy tale, horror, meditation, relaxation and mystical/cosmic soundtracks.

I made a saw wave and put some flanger and paulstretch effects to it on audacity and made this synth-like saw wave inspired by the saw wave sample from the ps1 startup sound. I build it in fl studio (32bits) with the soundfonts plugin (the soundfont used was "sgm")overdubs were done with a "strings" sample and the rest was just the pure instrument with eq and reverb. (it also includes a subtle piano and choir).

This is a section of the pack with 50 bass drum varieties. Most of them are just minor changes and they resemble extremely "similar" sounds however they're based on different wave forms which are mixed together to form varieties. Other parameters were mashed, some may have distortions some may not. All the sounds you hear are synthesized. Generally these sounds are for dance music, some of them are well suited for more experimental music as well. But it should not be limited to just techno or trance. . . .

This is almost the same kick drum i´ve uploaded previously, but this has more compression and overtones in the sub bass, along with an interesting technique i´ve been doing, lemme explain. . . I put the original sample twice in my daw (fl studio if you ask),leave the first sound like it is and the second sample is being equalized in a way that only the sub bass is being showed, so i added to that the saturation plugin ivgi2 from klangheim industries and slammed it with the plugin ott by xfer records about 9 times. Equalized the sound again to cut the sub bass and leave the raw high end sound you hear, finally added an izotope ozone imager to make it wider.

There is a new freeware program called splitte. Aithat will take any piece of music and extract parts from it. It is highly inaccurate when trying to really accuratelysurgically remove, say, bass, drums, guitar or vocal tracks,but it creates some really trippy artifacts. All of these sample were from a live jazz tune that we were playing. The results of splitter splitting the tracks were really weird and ethereal. I have no affiliation with splitter. Ai, by the way, i just stumbled on it thisweek.

24 bit sample, direct to sound card, volume adjusted to remove peaks. . . Sound is a long recording of static and crackling noises with random notes and music from a circuit bent musini toy. I honestly don't know if the static sound (activated with two body contacts) is classified as "white" or "pink" noise, but i really like the sound of it! a plethora of crunchy, crispy, noisy snippets to transform into a drum kit or something like that!.

This, my dear friend, is ils - infinitely loud silence. Play some other sounds and then play this, and you'll know why i call it this way. It's created by a bug present in lmms, a free program for electronic music production. Actually this sample can't reproduce the ils phenomenon, that creates a dc offset so big, that it outnumbers any other signal getting out of the same audio interface and the result is silence. It's a silence that is masking other sounds. Mind-boggling. Nasty bug. All this sound can do is cause some distortion, probably because 24-bit sound can be only as loud as 0db. 32-bit floating point should be able to get louder, but still i don't think any sample file would be able to reproduce this product of error.

I sampled the bell tree at our church. After seeing how much the instrument costs at the music store, i opted to not buy one. The long version of this moves from left to right, and has the single sample repeat twice. So it begins on the left, has a delayed start in the center, then finally a third repeat starts on the right. Add liberal amounts of reverb, to taste. Hello,. This is the sample pack that i completed for the sound design course at slam academy. The theme of this pack is sounds that could be used to make melancholy and dark sounding music, but use however you see fit. I used ableton’s operator and analog synthesizers and xfer’s serum plugin to create this sounds. All processing was used using ableton’s stock effects and serum’s stock effects.
